To better understand the upstream conditions following the disaster, the Public Television Service (PTS) investigative program Our Island conducted a field expedition in mid-December. The reporting team traveled alongside geologists and mountaineering experts into the upper reaches of Mataian Creek, entering active landslide zones formed after the collapse. This investigative report presents close-range, on-site documentation of the landslides and remaining barrier lake structures, capturing the scale of terrain collapse and environmental change.
