She received a high-quality education from a young age, attending the prestigious High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China. At the age of 14, she went to the United States to study and later graduated from Horace Mann School in New York. She then moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to attend Harvard University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in economics in 2004 and her PhD in 2009. During her doctoral studies, she received Harvard’s award for outstanding graduate students. As a leading scholar in international macroeconomics, Jin’s research spans global capital flows, China’s credit markets, the economic impact of the One-Child Policy, and demographic changes. In her doctoral dissertation, she offered a new explanation for the “Lucas Puzzle,” shedding light on why capital tends to flow from developing to developed countries. Her academic work has been published in top-tier journals and has influenced scholarship worldwide.
